Women Can Be Such Ass****s

Lawyers Can Be Such Ass****s

Women AND Lawyers Can Be Such Ass****s

Sperm donor must pay child support (via cnn.com)

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A state appeals court ruled that a verbal agreement between a woman and her sperm donor was invalid, and ordered the man to pay child support for the woman's twins.

The three-judge panel ruled Thursday that the deal between Joel McKiernan and Ivonne Ferguson -- in which McKiernan donated his sperm and would not be obligated to pay any support -- was unenforceable because of "legal, equitable and moral principles."

Unfortunately, the idiot woman who wanted so badly to have a baby also seems to have wanted the sperm donor to pay for it--without actually saying so in advance.

Manipulation of the legal system for money. By a woman. At the expense of two children as well as an innocent man who, really, should have known better after he and the mother's initial relationship didn't work out.

Who'd have thunk it? Now, for the financial welfare of the twins, this guy is paying $1500+ per month in support, after he was assured he would not be held responsible. Another woman having children she can't afford. So she blindsides the sperm donor/former boyfriend.

Take a memo: no sperm-donor babies without legal paperwork in advance because stupid/manipulative people+smart/manipulative lawyers=moronic outcomes.

See? The lawyers win all around.

What a Difference Four Days Make

So perky little Katie Couric just HAD to play the ENTIRE jibjab.com election parody on the Today Show. Now their server is crashed. good one. They have kindly posted another here.

Well worth the load wait. Those Spiridellis boys are smart and sarcastic, just like us.

MONEY! It's A GAS!

Report: Jackson to be father of quadruplets
(via msnbc.com)

"Pop star Michael Jackson, facing a trial on child molestation charges, is about to become a father to four more children — quadruplets — by way of a surrogate mother, Us Weekly magazine reported Tuesday."

As someone famously said during then-President Clinton's imbroglio with Paula Jones, "Drag a $5.00 bill through a trailer park and see what you get."

And why does he come to Florida to do his dirty laundry? What are we? Nutcase central?

This boy (he is NO man, by any means) should come on over to the west coast of Florida and check out the Sunshine Skyway. Remember, if your guess for his jump date is closest, you win.

Regular or Extra Torture

Okay, NOW I'm on the PETA bandwagon. Say what you want about food-animals, but after watching the Abu Gharib of poultry prisons in action in this video, you'll think again about stopping on the way home for that crispy, drippy bucket.

The New York Times said this:

"The undercover investigator, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he feared retaliation and still does undercover work for the group, said in a telephone interview that he saw "hundreds" of acts of cruelty, including workers tearing beaks off, ripping a bird's head off to write graffiti in blood, spitting tobacco juice into birds' mouths, plucking feathers to "make it snow," suffocating a chicken by tying a latex glove over its head, and squeezing birds like water balloons to spray feces over other birds.

He said the behavior was "to alleviate boredom or vent frustrations," especially when so many birds were coming in that they would have to work late.

On April 6, one day he filmed, workers made a game of throwing chickens against a wall; 114 were thrown in seven minutes. A supervisor walking past the pile of birds on the floor said, "Hold your fire," and, once out of the way, told the crew to "carry on."" (NY Times)

"I Will Pump You Up, Girlie-men."

Another Republican windbag who refuses to apologize. Governor Pump thinks Dems who oppose his budget are girlie men. I, personally, prefer the spelling girly-men. But, no matter how you spell it, it's still an insult. He meant it as an insult. He used it as an insult and no amount of "you people are so over-sensitive" can change that.

Heil, Ah-nold!

Indigo Girls: Aiding Polluters?

I read with dismay today that one of my favorite bands, the Indigo Girls, will be contributing to the pollution of Florida's coastal waters. The Girls will be playing an Olivia Cruise Line ship, The Zuiderdam, while it is docked at Key West this April 4th. According to the San Francisco Business Times archives, which will not allow linkage, Olivia partners with Holland America and Norwegian among other matchups.

I'd prefer to believe The Girls aren't aware of the pollution caused in our waters by cruise ships, despite laws limiting same. If they took a minute to check out the website for Oceana or the Surfrider Foundation (among others), they would discover exactly what the industry their appearance will be supporting is doing to our waters, our coastlines and our way of life.

Apparently k.d. Lang didn't. Neither did Meg Christian. Ditto Margaret Cho and Kate Clinton. (*Now add Rosie O'Donnell, Martina Navratilova and a host of others).

Is supporting a gay-owned business more important than the environmentally responsible causes these women support and propound at their concerts and appearances?

Again, I choose to believe these remarkable, politically pro-active women didn't do their homework. Or maybe their managers failed to fully inform them of the massive pollution of our (all of our) air and waters caused by the discharge (legal and otherwise) of grey-water, bilge dumping and diesel exhaust by cruise ships, not to mention other nasty items like dry-cleaning fluids from the shipboard cleaners. I refuse to believe that they don't care. Or is it, like everything else in our beautiful country-land of capitalism and Ayn Rand-simply about the money?

Cruises are fun. I've even seen pictures! I'm bettings there are some who would even say that cruises are enough fun that the damage they cause to the local environments is worth it. But ask the residents of Key West how they feel about it. Or, instead, read about it here. Or just ignore it. There's plenty of water, right? The ocean is self-cleaning, right?

It only took me a few minutes to Google pages of links to cruise ship pollution references-Key West and everywhere else cruises sail. Why not take some time to do the same? Or check out Amazon.com.

Read. learn. Know. So I can listen to your music without feeling hypocritical.

Saturday Bush Whacking

Bush camp wants church lists

President Bush, seeking to mobilize religious conservatives for his reelection campaign, has asked church-going volunteers to turn over church membership directories, campaign officials said on Thursday.

So much for the separation of church and state.
