Using FEMA to Influence the Election?

Who gets help? (via msnbc.com)

"More than one billion dollars in hurricane aide has been distributed so far. So where’s the money going?

Two reporters at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper analyzed the government statistics and discovered FEMA's given Miami-Dade County
$21.5 million to cope with Hurricane Frances. That’s almost twice what FEMA
has distributed in hard-hit Indian River County following the same hurricane."

Along the Indian River County coastline, Hurricane Frances came ashore with 105-mile-per-hour winds. The National Weather Service says when Frances came ashore, Miami-Dade experienced sustained winds of only 43 miles per hour and rainfall of three-and-a-half inches — what Floridians would call a severe thunderstorm.

Yet more than 19,500 Miami Dade residents have applied for FEMA aid. Because the applications are private, it's unclear who the victims are requesting federal money."

Surprise! Another Bush Administration Official with Ties to Big Oil

(Oh yeah, he's also a thief)

WP: Goss pick quit CIA in 1982 under fire (via msnbc.com)

"In late 1981, after he had been a case officer for 10 years, Kostiw was caught shoplifting in Langley, sources said. During a subsequent CIA polygraph test, Kostiw's responses to questions about the incident led agency officials to place him on administrative leave for several weeks, according to four sources who were familiar with the past events but who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the information."

Or maybe, like seemingly everyone else in America, those "sources" are afraid to be identified.

Get Checked!

My mom has it. My friends have it. You could have it and not even know. Please. Get checked. Check yourself. Check your friends! Make it a party. Like Nike used to say, "Just do it." You could save your own life or the life of someone you love.

(For Mom, Pepper, Hillary and Heather and all my friends gone much too soon).

"We Will Bury You"

So King George started the debates with a bang...literally. From the first question the guy was pounding that lectern. Like it made him look powerful and decisive. Give that man a shoe and call him Kruschev.

My opinion (who cares?): our standing President came off as tyrannical, obstinate, inflexible and one-trick-pony. Could he not come up with anything better than that tired argument that Kerry changed his mind? Did it ever occur to our President that John Kerry voted with the majority in solidarity with him? Only to watch our country's leader make misjudgement after misjudgement? Hell, I'd change my mind, too.

How many of you are as close-minded as George? Walking like sheep to the polls, convinced that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know? Or just plain blind-ass stubborn wanna-be winners?
